Tried and true. This is amazing over ice cream. We love this and can't get enough of it. Yummers. DRUNK CHERRIES OVER ICE CREAM This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Viler Estate in Georgetown, Texas in 1991. Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups plus 1 tablespoon cranberry juice cocktail |
1 cup hearty red wine |
3/4 cup sun-dried cherries |
juice of 1/2 lemon |
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar |
1 cinnamon stick |
2 teaspoons arrowroot powder |
Directions:
1. Combine 1-1/2 cups of the cranberry juice, wine, cherries, juice, sugar and cinnamon. 2. Simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes. 3. Combine remaining tablespoon cranberry juice with arrowroot and stir until smooth. 4. Stir mixture into cherry sauce then bring to a boil and remove from heat. 5. Discard cinnamon stick and allow to cool slightly. 6. Pour over ice cream. |
