If you love to camp and enjoy the great outdoors as much as my family, here is a take along snack that is sure to please. Using my dehyrator compacts so many things and makes them easy to take along since it removes the need for refrigeration. Ingredients:
1 cup dried dates |
1/2 cup dried calimyrna fig |
1/2 cup prunes or 1/2 cup dried apricot |
1/2 cup raisins (regular or golden) |
1 cup crushed walnuts or 1 cup pecans |
1/2 cup sunflower seeds |
3 tablespoons lemon juice |
1 cup flaked coconut |
Directions:
1. In a food processor, finely chop dates, figs, prunes/apricots and raisins. 2. In a medium bowl, mix chopped fruit with nuts and seeds. 3. Stir in lemon juice. 4. Shape into 1/2-1 balls. 5. Roll in coconut. 6. Dry in your dehydrator at 135ยบ for 4 to 6 hours, or until crisp on the outside. |
