                    Dried figs Ingredients: 
                    
                        
                                                4 quarts fresh figs  |  
                                                1 quart water  |  
                                                3 teaspoons salt  |  
                                                3 cups sugar  |  
                                                1 pint water  |  
                                                powdered sugar  |  
                                                
                     
                    Directions: 
                    
                        
                            
                                1. Place figs in 1 quart of water in which salt has been dissolved. 2. Let stand overnight. Drain. 3. Make a syrup of the sugar and 1 pint water. 4. Add figs and cook gently until the syrup is m ostly absorbed. 5. While cooking, watch carefully! Do not stir, but lift kettle and shake figs. 6. Put on plates and turn daily until dry. 7.
