This sounds like a veritable bursting of flavors in your mouth. I'll make this for Christmas Eve this year! Prep and cook times are right. It needs to sit for close to an hour after coming from the oven. Ingredients:
1/2 (17.3 ounce) package puff pastry sheets |
1 large egg |
1 tablespoon water |
1/3 cup dried cherries, softened by soaking in water to cover |
1/4 cup toasted pecans |
1/4 cup honey |
1/2 teaspoon fresh rosemary leaves, finely chopped |
1 (13.2 ounce) round brie cheese |
16 ounce box of crackers |
Directions:
1. Thaw the pastry sheet at room temperature for40 minutes OR until it is easy to handle. 2. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. 3. Beat the and water together in a small bowl. 4. Unfold pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. 5. Roll the sheet into a 14 square. 6. Drain the cherries. 7. Stir the cherries, pecans, honey and rosemary in a small bowl. 8. Spread the mixture in the center of the pastry square. 9. Top with the round of Brie cheese. 10. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg mixture. 11. Fold two opposite sides of the pastry over the cheese. 12. Trim the remaining two sides of the pastry square to 2 from the edge of the cheese. 13. Fold the sides up onto the cheese and press the edges to seal. 14. Place the pastry-wrapped cheese seam-side down onto a baking sheet. 15. Brush the pastry with the egg mixture. 16. Decorate the top with pastry scraps or additional rosemary, if desired. 17. Brush the pastry with the egg mixture. 18. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes OR until pastry is deep golden brown. 19. Remove from oven. 20. Allow to stand for 45 minutes to an hour. 21. Serve with fancy entertaining crackers. 22. **OMG, I can't wait! |
