My friend, Dot, taught me how to make this cake about 30 years ago. It is still everyone's favorite!!!! This is the cake everyone requests on their birthday! Like the old fashioned birthday cake!!! The icing can be tinted any color you want. Ingredients:
1 (18 ounce) box white cake mix, duncan hines |
3 large egg whites |
1 1/3 cups water |
2 tablespoons vegetable oil |
1 teaspoon almond flavoring |
1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar |
1 stick crisco shortening |
1/4 cup water |
1 teaspoon butter flavoring |
1 teaspoon cocoanut flavoring |
Directions:
1. Bake Duncan Hines Classic White Cake as directed on box (in 9 X 13 pan). 2. I undercook this cake a little. It will be so moist. 3. Turn onto platter and cover with cloth dish towel. 4. Let the cake cool completely. 5. Mix ingredients for frosting. Beat well and spread over cake. |
