this is a Dinette Cake from the 1969 Betty Crocker Cook Book. I like to substitute the all purpose flour with whole wheat flour. Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (1 1/4 cups is the amount i use for the whole wheat flour) |
1 cup sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/3 cup shortening (i have sub'ed apple sauce here) |
3/4 cup milk |
1 egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. heat oven to 350 degrees. grease and flour 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Mix all ingredients and pour into pan. bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. |
