One of the best all time favorite. I got it from mom. It is my husband's favorite. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs 80% lean ground beef |
1 cup soft breadcrumbs |
3/4 cup milk |
1/2 cup onion, chopped |
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated |
1 egg, light beaten |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1/4 teaspoon oregano |
1 (5 ounce) can tomato sauce |
3 slices mozzarella cheese |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Combine all ingredients except tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. 3. Mix lightly. 4. In a 10x6-inch loaf pan, shape loaf. 5. Bake 1 1/2 to 2 hours. 6. Drain excess fat. 7. Pour tomato sauce over loaf during last 1/2 hour of baking time. 8. Place mozzarella cheese on top. 9. Bake 5 to 10 minutes more. |
