This is Brussel sprouts at their best. I love the sweet/hot flavor contrast. Dresses up a Sunday or Holiday dinner. Ingredients:
1 lb. brussel sprouts |
1 tb melted butter |
1 tb honey |
2 tsp dijon mustard |
1 medium sweet onion, peeled and chopped or sliced |
1/2 c. water |
2 tb of olive oil |
Directions:
1. Trim Brussel sprouts. And cut a small X in the stem end, so they cook evenly. 2. Place sprouts, chopped onion and the 1/2 cup water in a medium pan. Drizzle olive oil on top of all. Cover and cook on medium-high heat for approx. 8 or so minutes, or until tender. Pour any excess water out when done. Keep sprouts in pan. 3. Add the honey, butter and Dijon mustard on top of the cooked sprouts and onions. Stir gently and reheat to blend. If needed, add more water. 4. Sprinkle with salt or pepper, if desired. |
