Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup hot water |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup cocoa |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cream butter in a large mixing bowl; add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add water; beat well. 2. Combine flour, cocoa, soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. 3. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove layers from pans, and let cool completely. |
