When you need a chocolate fix, this is the cake for you! Ingredients:
2 cups sugar |
1 (1 -2 cup) cup butter, softened |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3/4 teaspoon almond extract |
2 eggs |
2 1/2 cups cake flour |
1 cup baking cocoa |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 1/4 cups buttermilk |
6 cups powdered sugar |
1 cup butter, softened |
4 -6 tablespoons milk |
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
3/4 teaspoon almond extract |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Grease and flour 3 9-inch round pans. 3. Beat sugar, butter, vanilla and almond extract in large bowl on medium speed until light and fluffy. 4. Beat in eggs, one at a time. 5. Mix cake flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; beat into sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating until mixed between additions. 6. When all ingredients are added in, beat another minute. 7. Pour into pans. 8. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until done. 9. Cool 10 minutes and then remove from pans to cool completely on wire rack. 10. Fill between layers and frost with Buttercream Frosting. 11. For Frosting: Beat all ingredients on medium speed until light and fluffy. |
