I have not tried this recipe. I got it from Horseheads Woman's Club Cookbook. The recipe was submitted by Elena Head. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup cocoa |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 cup milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 egg |
1/3 cup evaporated milk |
1/2 cup crisco |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cookies:. 2. Sift dry ingredients together and add shortening, milk, vanilla and eggs; mix well. 3. Drop on very lightly greased cookie sheet, 1 tablespoon at a time, spreading with back of spoon to make them long or round. 4. Bake 5 minutes at 425. 5. Filling:. 6. Beat 5 minutes with electric beater and spread between 2 cookies. |
