A classic lightens up - rich root beer and dark chocolate all in a moist sheet cake! Ingredients:
1/2 cup unbleached white flour |
1/2 cup barley flour |
2/3 cup whole wheat pastry flour |
1 cup sugar |
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa |
1/4 cup dry buttermilk powder |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon instant coffee |
1 egg white |
12 oz diet root beer |
1/2 cup water |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Stir together flours, sugar, cocoa, buttermilk, baking soda, baking powder, salt and coffee in a large bowl. 3. Beat in egg white, root beer and water with electric beaters for 2 minutes. 4. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 rectangular pan, or two 9 round pans. 5. Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes. |
