I developed this to feed my finicky toddler who subsists on nothing but crackers and fries right now. With the addition of Wheat Germ, he also gets some extra vitamins in his fries and it lends a wonderful, roasted flavor to them! Ingredients:
1 medium sized red potatoes |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
1/2 teaspoon sea salt |
1/4 cup wheat germ |
2 cups cold water |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Scrub potato, peel (optional), and cut it into 1/4 inch pieces so it resembles shoestring french fries. Soak pieces in a bowl of cold water for 10 minutes. Dry the potatoes with paper towels. Coat with olive oil, then dust with wheat germ and sea salt. Place potatoes in a single layer on a cookie sheet and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and reduce heat to 350. Flip potatoes and continue cooking for 15 minutes or until fries are golden brown and crisp. |
