I know this isnt really a traditional Texas chili, but that's what the original recipe from Del Monte is called and so I am keeping it's name intact. I usually use a roll of Bob Evans Original sausage in place of the pork for more flavor. Really easy and quick to make. Ingredients:
3/4 lb ground pork |
3/4 lb ground beef |
1 cup onion, chopped |
1 cup celery, chopped |
1 garlic clove, minced |
1 (15 ounce) can del monte tomato sauce |
1 (8 3/4 ounce) can del monte sweet whole kernel corn |
1 (8 ounce) can kidney beans |
1/3 cup water |
2 teaspoons chili powder |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1/2 teaspoon cumin |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. In a Dutch oven, brown pork and beef; drain. 2. Add remaining ingredients. 3. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. |
