Deep Fried Mozzarella Sticks |

Just like the stuff you get at a restaurant! Ingredients:
16 ounces mozzarella cheese brick |
1/2 c water |
1/2 t garlic powder |
1/2 t dried oregano, crushed |
1/2 t dried parsley, crushed |
1/3 c cornstarch |
3 eggs, beaten |
1 1/2 c italian seasoned bread crumbs |
2/3 c flour |
1/8 t salt |
1/8 t pepper |
dipping sauce (marinara is traditional) |
3 shallow bowls |
baking sheet |
deep fryer |
paper bags |
Directions:
1. Mix together eggs and water and set aside. 2. Combine bread crumbs, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried parsley, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl. 3. In another bowl, mix flour and cornstarch. 4. Cut mozzarella into rectangles. 5. One at a time, dip mozzarella into EGG mixture, then BREADCRUMBS, then FLOUR mixture. 6. This is important: refrigerate or freeze sticks for 15 minutes to allow breading to set up. Less cheese oozes out during the frying process this way. 7. Fry sticks at 375 until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper bags. 8. Serve immediately with desired dipping sauce. |
