A Holiday standard, the apple pie, and a pie that everyone likes, here is one with added molasses, just a little different taste, but just as good!! Ingredients:
6 large tart cooking apples, sliced into eighths (6 cups) |
1/2 cup water |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/4 cup molasses |
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine |
pastry dough, for one crust nine-inch pie |
Directions:
1. Partially cook apples in a 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 caserole dish. Mix sugar, salt, and nutmeg and sprinkle over apples. Spread molasses over apples and dot with butter. Place pastry over all and trim,seal, and crimp edges. 2. Bake 30 minutes at 425°F. |
