This is my signature chili. It is rich in flavor but not overly spicy. I serve this chili with hot cooked rice, and condiments on the side such as: sour cream, salsa, sliced green onions, chopped red onion, cheese, and tortilla chips. Read more . It is a really good chili that doesn't leave you with terrible heartburn like many chilis do. Ingredients:
1 1/2 to 2 pounds ground sirloin or ground chuck |
1 can red kidney beans,drained |
1 can white navy beans,drained |
1 can ranch style beans |
1 can tomatoes |
1 (15 oz) can of tomato sauce |
1 can tomato paste(6oz) plus 2 cans of water(12 oz.) |
1 large onion, chopped |
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper |
3 cloves garlic, minced |
2 cups mild or medium pace picante sauce |
3 tablespoons chili powder |
2 teaspoons garlic powder |
1 teaspoon cumin |
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil |
salt and black pepper to taste |
1 to 1 1/3 cup burgundy |
Directions:
1. Heat 1 tbsp. oil in a large saucepan or pot over medium-high heat. 2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, stirring often. 3. Remove beef. 4. Add remaining oil and heat over medium heat. 5. Add onion,bell pepper and garlic and cook until tender. 6. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, salsa, water, garlic powder, chili power and cumin. 7. Heat to a boil. 8. Lower heat to low medium and return ground beef to pan. 9. Add beans and burgundy 10. .Cover and cook over low -medium heat for 30 minutes. 11. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 12. Serve with favorite toppings or over rice. |
