I make my own chips and load them up with cheese, bacon and green onions. My family loves these. Ingredients:
4 russet potatoes |
1 cup plain flour, more if needed |
1/2 teaspoon season salt |
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
oil (for frying) |
4 -6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled |
1 cup colby-monterey jack cheese, shredded |
3 -4 green onions, sliced |
Directions:
1. Clean and scrub potatoes. (leave skins on) Slice 1/8 inch thick. 2. Place in bowl of cold water for 30 minutes or longer. 3. Drain well. Season with season salt, garlic powder and pepper. 4. Add flour and toss to coat, making sure to separate slices. 5. Fry in hot oil until lightly brown. Drain on paper towel for a minute. 6. Sprinkle with more salt. While hot sprinkle the cheese and bacon over the top of fries. 7. Return to hot oven only until the cheese is melted. Sprinkle with green onions. 8. Serve hot. |
