This egg casserole needs to be prepared the night before. It makes a great breakfast for family gatherings. Goes great with a fruit salad! The owner of Broadway diner shared this recipe with me. It makes enough for an army. Read more . I cut it down considerably. Ingredients:
5 lb sausage...cooked, crumbled, and drained. |
1 loaf white bread...crusts removed and finely diced. |
5 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese. |
20 eggs |
2 1/2 tsp salt |
2 1/2 tsp dry mustard |
10 cups whole milk |
Directions:
1. Cook, crumble and drain sausage. 2. Remove crusts from bread and finely chop. 3. Alternate layers of diced bread, sausage, and cheese into a casserole dish. 4. Mix eggs, milk, and spices. 5. Pour over layers in casserole. 6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. 7. Bake at 325 for 45 minutes to 1 hour. |
