One of my best quick bread loafs. I love to make this for Christmas gifts. Ingredients:
1 2/3 cups chopped dates |
1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon allspice |
1 cup boiling water |
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350*. 2. Butter a 4x8 loaf pan. 3. Put all ingredients except flour in saucepan and stir on low heat until butter is melted. 4. Set aside to cool for 10 minutes. 5. Add the flour; mix well. 6. Pour into pan. 7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until pick in middle comes out clean. |
