Ingredients:
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs, beaten |
1 1/4 cups sifted cake flour |
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon hot water |
2 cups chopped dates |
2 cups chopped pecans |
sifted powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs; beat well. 2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Add water, and stir well. Add dates and pecans, stirring well (batter will be thick). 3. Spread batter in a greased 15- x 10-x 1-inch jellyroll pan. Bake at 300° for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool. Cut into 1-inch squares. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. |
