A tray of goodies at Christmas time is not complete without these. This is from Christmas with Paula Deen. I have not tried this recipe, posting for safe keeping. Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 stick) |
2 eggs, beaten |
2 cups sugar |
8 ounces chopped dates |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
1 cup chopped nuts |
1 1/2 cups rice krispies |
3 cups finely grated coconut |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the eggs, sugar, and dates. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, and cook 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat. Stir in the vanilla, nuts, and Rice Krispies. 2. Let cool and shape into finger-sized sticks. Roll in the 3. coconut. |
