If you like dates, you will like these. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup vegetable shortening |
1 cup granulated sugar |
2 eggs |
1 1/2 cups dates, pitted and chopped |
1 cup walnuts, chopped |
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. 2. Combine the flour, baking powder, spices and salt. 3. In a large bowl, cream the vegetable shortening and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Fold in the dates and walnuts. 4. Drop the dough by spoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. 5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly colored. Transfer to wire racks to cool. |
