My first experiment.I combined two recipes and the result was so good.It's perfect with tea/ coffee
Ingredients:
6 oz. butter,soft
4 oz. brown sugar
3 eggs
9 oz. plain flour
3 tsp baking powder
6 oz. dates,stoned and chopped(about 20 dates)
1 lemon,grated zest
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
2 tbsp milk
melted chocolate/chocolate sauce
desicated cocunut / chopped nuts
Directions:
1. Preheat oven on 180c.Grease and line 10 x 7 inch shallow pan.
2. Cream butter and sugar until creamy.
3. Add eggs one by one and beat well.
4. Add vanilla and mix it.
5. Sift flour and baking powder.Add chopped dates and lemon zest in the flour.
6. Add slowly to the creamed mixture,then add milk.
7. Put in greased pan and bake for 20 minutes.
8. Cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then turn out, peel off the lining paper and leave to cool.
9. Cover top with melted chocolate/chocolate sauce and sprinkle cocunut/nuts.
10. Then cut into 16 bars.Let it set in refrigerater.
