From Grandma' handwritten recipe box. This is not her handwriting, but there is no name or date. A simple slice perfect for lunchboxes. Ingredients:
1 cup self raising flour |
4 ounces dates, chopped small |
1/2 cup raw sugar |
2 ounces chopped nuts (your choice) |
1 egg |
2 ounces butter, melted |
Directions:
1. Mix the dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl. 2. Add the melted butter and egg, stir. 3. Press mixture into a greased 15x20 cm slice tin. 4. Bake at 180oC for 30-35 minutes. |
