I wanted a decadent turkey avocado sandwich. I wanted to make it on our old waffle iron-it has a flat side that we use for tuna melts. This sandwich is absolutely decadent when you use sharp provolone and the best sourdough bread you can find (I like thick slices). Enjoy! Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1 tablespoon italian seasoning |
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 teaspoon roasted garlic powder |
2 slices sourdough bread |
2 slices provolone cheese (preferably sharp) |
6 slices mesquite smoked turkey, sliced wafer thin |
1/2 avocado, sliced |
Directions:
1. Heat panini press, waffle iron, or pan. 2. Combine olive oil and seasonings. 3. On one slice of bread stack one slice of cheese, all the turkey and avocado and then the last slice of cheese. Top with second slice of bread. 4. Brush half of the olive oil mixture on the top piece of bread. Flip over and brush remaining olive oil mixture on the other piece of bread. 5. Cook in the panini press or waffle iron until golden brown or cook in pan until one side is golden brown and then flip over and cook until the other side is golden brown. 6. Enjoy! |
