My mom came up with this recipe some 15 years ago, just before dark chocolate rage - it should be much easier to find cocoa contents listed on the package now. Since this doesn't have added sugar or flavorings, get a really good quality chocolate. Read more . It will be worth it! It was developed for a low-carb diet. Ingredients:
6 oz chocolate with at least 60% cocoa |
5 egg whites |
1 1/4 cup heave cream |
Directions:
1. Melt chocolate in the top of a double boiler over low heat. Leave over double boiler on burner to cool. 2. As the chocolate cools, beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold whipped cream into the beaten egg whites. Continue to fold while drizzling the lukewarm chocolate into the mixture until its well blended. 3. Spoon into 6 serving dishes. Refrigerate two hours or more before serving. Top each serving with slivered chocolate. |
