Dark Chocolate Cake With Rich Chocolate Frosting |

This is the easiest cake recipe I have. Ingredients:
2 cups cake flour |
2 cups white sugar |
1 cup baking cocoa |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
3 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 cup cold brewed coffee |
1 cup buttermilk |
1/2 cup vegetable oil |
rich chocolate frosting |
1 cup butter-softened,no substitutes |
1 cup baking cocoa |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/2- 1 cup milk |
4 cups confectioners' sugar |
Directions:
1. Cake: 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 3. Grease and flour two 9 cake pans or one 9x13 pan. 4. In a large mixing bowl,combine flour,baking powder,salt,soda,cocoa,and sugar. 5. Make a well in the center and add the eggs,coffee,buttermilk,vanilla,and oil. 6. Mix until well combined. Batter will be thin. 7. Pour batter into prepared pan(s). 8. Bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 9. Let layers set for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire cooling racks. 10. Cool completely. 11. Frosting: 12. In a large mixing bowl,cream butter. 13. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar,cocoa, and vanilla. 14. Add milk until frosting reaches spreading consistency. 15. Frost cake. |
