This is my son's Grandmother's recipe. The peppermint icing is great! Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 cup granulated sugar |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/3 cup cocoa |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup canola oil |
1/2 cup sour milk |
1 egg, beaten |
1/2 cup boiling water |
1/3 cup butter, softened |
2 cups icing sugar |
1 1/2-2 1/2 tablespoons milk |
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract |
Directions:
1. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cocoa, vanilla, oil, milk and egg in large bowl. Add boiling water; stir to combine. Pour into 8 square pan. Bake at 350-degrees for 35 minutes. Beat remaining ingredients. Spread over cooled cake. |
