This is my favorite all time recipe from the Dak breadmakers. I had about 3 Daks plus several other brands through out the years. This egg bread recipe is one I make using the dough cycle ( or by hand ) and then make round or braided loaves, rolls etc. Read more . It always comes out light, fluffy and delightful! Perfect for making Challah bread too Ingredients:
1 pk yeast |
3 c flour - i use all purpose |
4 tb sugar |
2 eggs |
6 tb vegetable oil; corn , i often use olive |
1 1/2 ts salt |
3/4 c water; warm |
all optional |
1/2 c dried fruit; chopped , often use raisins |
1/3 c almonds; chopped |
1/2 ts almond extract |
egg wash: if making challah bread, mix |
1 egg |
2 tsp water |
optional: seseme and poppy seeds |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in the pan in the order listed and select white bread; push start 2. When making this into Challah, remove from the breadmaker after the manual mode stops; let rise; braid and put an egg wash over the challah. 3. Then bake in a 350 degree oven until a light toasty brown. 4. Sprinkle on some type of seeds (sesame or poppy) after the egg wash. : 5. Note: if you own another type of bread machine add ingredients according to manufacturer's instructions 6. One may either have to add a bit more flour or water to get the proper machine dough consistency |
