This is by far my favorite stuffing recipe. I have made this many times and have always got rave reviews. Putting the mixture through a meat grinder isn't a requirement but the flavor is SO much better when done that way. For the recipe I usually use Jimmy Dean's regular sausage and Pepperidge Farm's stuffing and it turns out well. Ingredients:
1 lb sausage |
14 ounces prepared stuffing, cubed |
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans chicken broth or 2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans turkey broth |
1 yellow onion, diced |
1 head celery |
Directions:
1. Cook stuffing according to directions, using broth in lieu of water. Remove to a bowl when finished. 2. While stuffing is cooking, scramble fry sausage and remove into bowl. 3. Using as meat grinder, combine stuffing, sausage, celery and onion. 4. Send through a second time. 5. Place in turkey if desired. 6. Cook stuffing at 350°F for about 30 minutes uncovered for crispy stuffing, covered for moist stuffing. |
