Dad T's Vanilla Ice Cream |

This was the recipe my Dad used to make us Ice Cream. I still use it even though the eggs aren't cooked. I warn people of this before serving it to them as the USDA recommends cooking the eggs first. Ingredients:
4 eggs |
2 1/4 cups sugar |
5 cups milk |
4 cups heavy whipping cream |
4 1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
Directions:
1. Add sugar gradually to all ready beaten eggs. Beat until stiff. 2. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. 3. Pour into ice cream drum that has been chilling in the freezer. 4. Freeze according to your ice cream makers instructions. 5. Make as many variations as you like from this basic recipe - add chocolate chips, oreos, peppermint sticks, heath bits, instant coffee, etc. 6. I usually let it process until it slows a bit before adding mix ins. |
