This is different play on our usual pies, but so very tasty!! Ingredients:
4 cups pears, peeled, sliced |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger |
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
2 tablespoons almonds, chopped |
3/4 cup flour |
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/4 cup cold butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine the pears, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg; toss to coat. Transfer to a 9-inch pie plated coated with cooking spray, sprinkle with almonds. 2. In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over top. 3. Bake at 350F for 40-45 minutes or unitl golden brown. 4. Cool on wire rack. Store in refrigerator. |
