Crumb Coated Potato Patties

I got this recipe from Potato Lovers Cookbook. A great way to use up those leftover mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups cold seasoned mashed potatoes
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons minced onions
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
1 dash pepper
1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
3 -4 tablespoons margarine or 3 -4 tablespoons bacon drippings
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl lightly beat egg.
2. Add mashed potatoes cheese flour onion garlic salt and pepper stirring until well blended.
3. Place crumbs on a piece of waxed paper.
4. With floured hands shape one fourth of the potato mixture into a 4 inch patties.
5. Coat both sides of the patties with crumbs.
6. In a large skillet over medium heat cook patties until crust and browned on each side.
