Begin any informal dinner party with these fun Roman-style crostini. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) unsalted butter |
2 anchovy fillets, drained, chopped |
1 tablespoon whole milk |
18 1/2-inch-thick slices crusty bread or baguette |
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil |
1/2 pound fresh buffalo mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced, patted dry |
Directions:
1. Preheat broiler. Combine butter, anchovies, and milk in small saucepan over low heat. Cook until anchovies dissolve, mashing with back of spoon and stirring often, about 3 minutes (do not boil). 2. Place bread slices on rimmed baking sheet. Brush with oil; top with mozzarella slices. Broil until cheese melts and bread crisps, watching closely to prevent burning, about 3 minutes. Transfer crostini to platter. 3. Drizzle sauce over crostini; serve. |
