This is quick and the husband loves it. I normally start it when I get home from work because I have a short work day and I've made it in a sauce pan before when I was short on time- just fry your onions first if you do it that way. If you have someone who doesn't like onions you can use 2 cans of the consumme soup and add mushrroms if you like.
Ingredients:
1 lb deli shaved roast beef
1 (10 ounce) can beef consomme
1 (10 ounce) can french onion soup
1 medium onion, sliced thin
water
hard sub roll
1/2 lb provolone cheese
butter
minced garlic (i use the jar stuff)
Directions:
1. Cook the beef, onion, and soups in crock pot with 1 can of water on low for at least two hours or until the onion is soft.
2. Butter the sub buns and spread lightly with garlic; toast under broiler until butter is melted.
3. Place 2 peices of cheese in each bun and toast again until melted.
4. load buns with meat and serve with juice from crock pot for dipping.
