A simple to make ground turkey version of cabbage rolls made in a crock pot. Ingredients:
1 head cabbage |
1 lb ground turkey |
1/4 cup brown rice, uncooked |
1 egg, beaten |
1 onion, minced |
1 carrot, minced |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1/4 cup cider vinegar |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
Directions:
1. Put cabbage in boiling water. Simmer for 5-10 minutes; cool. (You can do this the day before and refrigerate the cabbage.). 2. While cabbage is cooking, in a bowl mix turkey, rice, egg, onion, carrot, salt, and pepper. 3. In another bowl, mix vinegar, brown sugar, and tomato sauce. 4. Once cabbage is cooled, remove 12 large leaves. 5. Chop remaining cabbage and place in the bottom of a crock-pot. 6. Put 2-4 tablespoons of meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf. 7. Roll up, envelope style, and secure with a toothpick. 8. Place seam side down in crock-pot. 9. Pour tomato sauce mixture over all. 10. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. |
