I received this recipe from a close friend. Another favorite of my family! I usually have to double it to satisfy them. I also add a package of hot dogs, sliced, or 2 cups of ham, cut in chunks, if I have it. Ingredients:
1 lb dried navy beans |
6 cups water |
1 small onion, chopped |
1 cup water |
3/4 cup ketchup |
3/4 cup brown sugar |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
2 tablespoons molasses |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Soak beans in 6 cups of water overnight OR bring to a boil, boil for 2 minutes, then cover and remove from heat. Let set one hour, then proceed. 2. Cook beans in water until soft, about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Drain and discard bean water. 3. Mix together all ingredients in crock pot. Mix well. 4. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours, stirring occasionally. |
