Crispy lentil strips, finger food, served with chutney Ingredients:
1 cup lentils |
1 tbsp pepper corns |
1 tbsp coriander seeds |
2 teaspoon chopped ginger |
2 green chili, chopped |
1 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped |
1/4 teaspoon chili powder |
1 teaspoon garam masala |
salt to taste |
vegetable oil for frying |
Directions:
1. Soak the lentils in a bowl of hot water for half an hour 2. Drain and put in a blender with coriander seeds and pepper corns and blend until a thick paste is made. 3. Add remaining ingredients and let stand for half an hour. 4. Heat half an inch of oil in a deep frypan or wok until smoking. Form patties, 10cm across, with moist hands and fry for a couple of minutes. 5. Remove from oil drain on paper towel. Cut patties into strips, heat oil until smoking again, and fry until golden brown. Continue frying patties with remain mixture. 6. Serve with chutney, tzatzicki, or hommos. |
