My ex- served these as a snack for the Raven's game last week. They were outta sight. When asked, she said she used the recipe from the back of an Old Bay seasoning can, with no alterations. In my opinion, the key to their great flavor was frying in peanut oil, and breaking the crab meat into fine strands, rather than leaving it lumpy. Read more . Ingredients:
1 package old bay® crab cake classic mix |
1/2 cup mayonnaise |
1 pound fresh crabmeat, drained and cartilage removed |
1/4 cup vegetable oil |
tartar sauce |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine Crab Cake Mix and mayo. Add crabmeat and gently toss until well blended. Shape into 24 balls. 2. Fry in batches in hot oil until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Serve with tartar sauce. 3. My notes: Rather than gently tossing, break the crab meat into fine strands. Fry to a crispy, deep brown color. Serve with tartar sauce, straight up or cocktail sauce. I've hade them with both, and they are delicious. |
