Recipe from The Southern Heritage Company's Coming! Cookbook -1983. Ingredients:
1 c plain yellow cornmeal |
1/4 t salt |
1/4 t baking soda |
1/4 c vegetable oil |
2 t light corn syrup |
1 c buttermil |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 2. Combine first 3 ingredients in a mixing bowl; set aside. 3. Combine oil, corn syrup, and buttermilk; mix well. 4. Stir into dry ingredients. 5. Place a well-greased cast-iron corn stick pan in 400 degree oven for 3 minutes or until a drop of water sizzles when dropped on pan. 6. Remove pan from oven; spoon batter into pan, filling each section one-half full. 7. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. 8.
