Creme Brulee French Toast |

A decadent breakfast/brunch recipe that can be prepared the night before. Ingredients:
1 stick butter |
1 cup brown sugar |
2 t maple syrup |
1/2 teaspoon rum extract |
2 loaves french bread or challah bread cut into 1 inch cubes. |
9 eggs |
2 1/2 cups half and half |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
4 teaspoons grand marnier or amaretto |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick spray. 2. Melt butter, brown sugar maple syrup and rum extract in saucepan. 3. Pour melted mixture into the bottom of prepared baking dish. 4. Place bread cubes in baking dish on top of melted mixture. 5. Whisk together remaining ingredients. 6. Pour over bread. 7. Garnish with a little sugar and cinnamon on top. 8. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. 9. Let dish come to room temperature. 10. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. 11. Serve with warm maple syrup and/or strawberries or raspberries. |
