End a company meal with an easy make-ahead dessert. The eye-catching pie has a big strawberry flavor and extra richness from ice-cream. Ingredients:
1 pkg. (10 oz.)frozen sweetened sliced strawberries,thawed |
1 pkg (3 oz) strawberry gelatin |
2 c vanilla ice cream |
1 pastry shell,(9 ),baked |
sliced fresh strawberries,optional |
Directions:
1. Drain strawberries into 1 c measure and reserve juice; set berries aside. Add enough water to juice to measure 1 c;pour into a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over med. heat. Remove from the heat;stir in the gelatin until dissolved. 2. Add ice cream;stir till blended. Refrigerate for 5-10 mins or just till thickened(watch carefully) 3. Fold in reserved strawberries. Pour into pastry shell. Refrigerate till firm,about 1 hour. Garnish with fresh strawberries,if desired. Refrigerate leftovers. |
