                    CREAMY NUTMEG MASHED POTATOES I obtained this recipe from an estate sale when I purchased the family collection from the Ridings Estate in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1982. Ingredients: 
                    
                        
                                                6 medium potatoes  |  
                                                2 bay leaves  |  
                                                12 ounce can evaporated milk  |  
                                                1/4 cup unsalted butter  |  
                                                1/2 teaspoon salt  |  
                                                1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper  |  
                                                1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg  |  
                                                softened butter  |  
                                                grated nutmeg  |  
                                                
                     
                    Directions: 
                    
                        
                            
                                1. Peel potatoes then cut in quarters and place in a deep saucepan. 2. Cover with hot water then add bay leaves and cover then bring to a boil. 3. Lower heat to medium and cook 20 minutes. 4. Drain well and return potatoes to a saucepan. 5. Add milk, butter and seasonings then cook over low stirring continually until heated through. 6. Beat with mixture until light and fluffy. 7. Serve with a pat of butter and a sprinkling of nutmeg over each portion.                              |
