I got this from a Land O' Lake recipe. Ingredients:
2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni |
3 tablespoons unsalted butter |
2 tablespoons flour |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
2 cups milk or 2 cups half-and-half cream |
18 slices of individually wrapped american cheese slices |
breadcrumbs or buttery garlic club crackers |
Directions:
1. Heat oven 350°F Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain. 2. Melt butter in 3 quart saucepan until sizzling; stir in flour, salt and pepper. Add milk; cook over med heat; stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens (5 - 7 mins). 3. Reduce heat to low; stir in cheese. Cook until cheese is melted (3 - 5 mins) Add cooked macaroni mix well. 4. Spoon into ungreased 2 quart casserole. Bake for 25-30 mins or until heated through. 5. Optional: Add breadcrumbs on top or crushed Buttery Garlic Club crackers. |
