This casserole-like dish reminds me of french fries smothered in cheese sauce. Yummy comfort food!! I have added crumbled bacon to this dish as well, and it is awesome! If you have a french fry cutter, use it to cut the potatoes to make prep super-easy. Ingredients:
1/4 cup flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4-1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper |
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
1 1/2 cups milk |
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup |
1/2 lb american cheese, cubed (i use velveeta) |
6 large baking potatoes, peeled |
1 cup chopped onion |
paprika |
Directions:
1. In saucepan, combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. 2. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. 3. Bring to boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes. 4. Remove from heat; whisk in soup and cheese until smooth; set aside. 5. Cut potatoes into 4 x1/2 x1/2 sticks; place into greased 13x9' baking dish. 6. Sprinkle with onion and top with cheese sauce. 7. Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender. 8. Sprinkle with paprika. |
