great side item for cheese and potatoe lovers Ingredients:
4 pounds baking potatoes, scrubbed |
12 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded (about 3 cups) |
1 cup milk |
1/2 cup whipping cream |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/8 teaspoon black pepper |
Directions:
1. 1 - Combine potatoes with water to cover in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil until taters are tender (usually about 20-25 minutes. Drain and let stand to cool 2. 2 - Coat bottom and sides of a 13x9 inch baking dish with butter. Peel potatoes and coarsely chop. Place in baking dish 3. 3 - Heat cheese in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently. Add in milk, whipping cream, dry mustard and pepper. Pour sause over potatoes. Cover & chill for 30 minutes. 4. 4 - Preheat oven to 350*F 5. 5 - Remove cover. Bake taters until they are heated through and browned lightly (about 35 minutes). 6. *Goes best with chicked & green beans* |
