My daughter and I were trying to duplicate various fudge samples we tried on a recent trip to Niagara Falls. This one comes close to the one really loved - but didn't want to spend a small fortune on a whole slab of only one flavour at a time. The way the fudge shoppe was set up, it did'nt offer the option of purchasing a 'variety pack' assortment. Ingredients:
3 cups granulated sugar |
3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine |
2/3 cup cream |
7 ounces marshmallow creme |
1 (12 ounce) package vanilla chips |
3 teaspoons orange flavoring |
12 drops yellow food coloring |
9 drops sred food coloring |
Directions:
1. Put sugar, cream and butter or margarineinto a heavy bottomed, medium pot. Boil until it reaches the soft ball stage on a candy thermoment (about 5 minutes). Add the marshmallow creme and chips, mix well. Remove 1 cup of mixture and set aside. 2. Add oprange flavouring and food colourings to mixture in pot, Stir and pour into a 11 x 8 or 13 x 9 flat pan, lined with tinfoil. 3. Stir white mixture, then pour on top of orange mixture in pan. Swirl with tip of a slim, pointed knife. Chill to cool. Allow to firm and cut into 1 squares to serve. Cooking time is chill time (approximate). |
