In Nebraska, vegetables have Velveeta on them. Here is the turnip version. Ingredients:
3 lbs turnips |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup flour |
1 1/2 cups light cream |
1 cup velveeta cheese |
1 tablespoon chives |
Directions:
1. Cook turnips until just barely tender-not soft but a little firm. 2. Drain. 3. Melt butter and mix in flour. 4. Add 1/2 and 1/2 cream add shredded cheese. 5. Mix into turnips. 6. Top with chives. |
