This is a meal that my mother used to make a lot for us kids when we were growing up. You can find the dried beef in the grocery store with the pre-packaged lunch meats. It goes a long way on a cold day! Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup flour |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1 teaspoon salt (to taste) |
2 cups milk |
2 1/2 ounces dried sliced beef |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Stir in milk. cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat. 2. Tear beef into shreds and add to cream sauce. Heat through. 3. Serve over toast. |
